    Diagnosis of dermatologic diseases

The early diagnosis by our dermatologist, of any pathology that affects the skin, nails or hair, is essential to prevent and stop possible future complications. Some alterations that manifest in our skin can also be related to diseases that affect other organs of our body, therefore sometimes a correct diagnosis requires a collaboration with more specialists of our center or additional tests. Similarly, infections and even stress can cause skin reactions.

In our dermatology service in Valencia we study and perform the diagnosis of:

    • Skin Diseases
    • Disorders of the hair and scalp
    • Sexual transmitted diseases
    • Allergies

    Dermatologic surgical therapy

Our dermatologist performs surgical treatments for malignant and benign lesions of the skin.

Dermatological surgery is a specialty that uses various surgical techniques to eliminate skin lesions, also taking into account the aesthetic result. The main treatment is that of cutaneous tumors, whether benign or malignant.

Normally these dermato-surgical treatments are performed with local anesthesia, depending on the lesion also with sedation or general anesthesia. Subsequently, the biopsy or excised tumor is sent to the pathology laboratory for study.

Prevention in dermatology and detection of skin cancer

One of the most important functions of the dermatologist is to perform precise and periodic skin checks on patients, but also on healthy people, in order to detect minimal suspicious changes that could become malignant.

Skin cancer is very common among the world population. Most of these cases are caused by overexposure to UV rays throughout life, so prevention is essential.
There are several actions that the patient can take to prevent and reduce the risk of skin cancer. Among others, it is important to protect areas that are very exposed to the sun, such as the face, and to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun or during high intensity hours. The observation and self-exploration of the skin is recommended, and if a freckle or a mole changes in size, appearance, shape or color, it is necessary to consult the dermatologist.
A very high percentage of skin cancer cases can be completely cured, if the necessary preventive measures are taken and if an early diagnosis is made.
